With community support, we will create a new therapeutic courtyard designed to be safe, accessible, and welcoming for all. This outdoor space will support learning, regulation, and connection, offering room for movement, socializing, and meaningful engagement for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The courtyard will provide children with a nature-based, sensory-informed environment where outdoor therapy and programming can take place. These thoughtfully designed spaces play an important role in trauma-informed care, particularly for children who have experienced trauma, by promoting calm, emotional regulation, and a sense of safety through connection with nature.
Additionally, the courtyard will offer adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities an accessible outdoor experience that encourages mobility, social interaction, and participation in shared activities. By removing physical barriers and creating a level, open environment, this space will foster inclusion, dignity, and opportunities for connection across ages and abilities.

We’re raising funds to transform an underused courtyard into a safe, accessible, and inclusive outdoor space. The area currently contains multiple steps, dense brush, and uneven obstacles, making it inaccessible for many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our goal is to level the surface, remove physical barriers, and create a calm, predictable environment that supports safe movement and participation.
We have all of this beautiful outdoor space, which in Arizona could provide us with a year-round outdoor space that will serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and be used for children’s outdoor therapy sessions and inclusive programming. An accessible outdoor space provides opportunities for sensory regulation, physical activity, social engagement, and therapeutic support in a natural setting—benefits that are especially meaningful for individuals who thrive in structured, barrier-free environments. Financial contributions will directly support accessibility improvements and materials needed to create a space where everyone can safely gather, engage, and feel included. Your support helps turn an inaccessible area into a place of dignity, healing, and possibility.
